Project Information

Renaissance United Limited (RUL) has contributed to major industrial developments throughout the world, including the construction of pulp and paper mills, as well as light and heavy manufacturing facilities, and development and ownership of industrial estates.

RUL developed the first BOT port in Perak, Malaysia in a joint venture with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak – the Perak State Economic Development Corporation (30%) and Halim Rasip Holdings Sdn Bhd (30%). RUL International Ltd holds a 40% share in this project which comprises 2 inter-related developments – the Lumut Port and the Lumut Port Industrial Park.

RUL was the EPC contractor for the construction of the Lumut Port. RUL is also co-developing the adjacent 1,000-acre Lumut Port Industrial Park.

RUL was awarded the contract for the design and construction of three Butanisation depots located in Calabar, Enugu and Makurdi in South-eastern Nigeria.

Butanisation Depots are facilities for the storage and handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas. Each depot consists of five large cylindrical reservoirs for the storage of LPG under pressure. The reservoirs, each with a capacity of 400 cubic metres, are mounted horizontally under an earth and concrete explosion protection mound.

Despite very wet weather conditions, the project was successfully completed on schedule.

The Sipitang Pulp and Paper Mill, with a projected annual production of 125,000 tonnes of paper, forms the heart of the major integrated timber, pulp and paper complex undertaken by Sabah Forest Industries. RUL received the contract for all civil works on the mill.

The administration, lime kiln, recauticising and stock preparation buildings are of reinforced concrete construction. Heavy reinforced concrete is used for the wood and chip handling facility . All other buildings, including the steam power and recovery plant and pulp mill, are of braced structural steel frame construction.

Chung Pah Hing, Brunei Shell Petroleum’s principal steel fabricator, contracted RUL to design and construct a blasting and coating facility to meet upgraded specifications for coatings on offshore steel oil production structures. RUL offered to supply and install a complete package, including the building and all machinery and services.

The building’s superstructure and blasting chamber were prefabricated in Singapore and then shipped to site, significantly reducing erection time. This industrial facility was completed, as contracted, in 7 months.
