Renaissance United Limited (RUL) develops power plants and transmission systems.Its accomplishments include the Labuan Beaufort Interconnection, the first privatised infrastructure for the power sector in Malaysia, and the Cikarang Power Station, the first privately developed power project in Indonesia, for which RUL completed the turnkey construction and also provided bridging finance. RUL also completed the Phase II expansion of the Cikarang Power Station.
RUL was awarded the contract for the design and construction of the first privately funded power plant in Indonesia. The facility is a natural gas fueled, 76MW Simple Cycle Power Plant, located in Bekasi, West Java.
The project, consisting of two 38MW gas turbine generators running in simple cycle, 150 kV switchyard, substation and overhead transmission line to the regional grid system, was completed in twelve months, one month ahead of schedule.
The power station will serve the growing demand for electricity at five industrial estates as well as supply power to the national power utility, PLN.
Besides being the turnkey contractor, RUL also provided bridging finance for the project.
RUL completed the Phase II expansion of the power station, which increased the total capacity of the facility to more than 200MW.
RUL was contracted by the Malaysian Government to finance, design, construct, operate and maintain an electrical power supply system. RUL’s BOT development proposal was selected because it utilised surplus energy from a gas fired power station rather than diesel fuel, and was a considerably less costly alternative to satisfy Sabah’s power needs.
The 86 km long, 77 MVA interconnection comprises substations, overhead transmission lines, and twin 132 KV oil filled submarine cables.
Project finance was raised within 2 months of contract signing, and design and construction was completed 4 months ahead of schedule.
RUL is an investor in the project company, LBI Sdn Bhd, the operator of the system.
